Ultrasonix was a band of mine that played live improvised electronic music. I had been using electronics to make music for a while but never in a live setting. This was my first exploration of manipulating electronic instruments and controllers, using software looping and sequencing, and improvising electronic music all in real-time.
The lineup was:
David Resnick – handsonic, samplers, laptop (synths, sequencing), effects
Erik Jacobs – octapad, samplers, synths, effects
Jack Ryon – wind controller, samplers, laptop (synths, sequencing), effects (Jack left the band in June 2004)
We recorded three live albums that were really just recordings of our rehearsals, but then again our rehearsals were like performances so who can say what the difference is. The albums were titled Rehearsals 3/04, Rehearsals 5/04, and Rehearsals 8/04.
Here is a mix of photos from our performances and studio work.
